Metrivo vs PostHog
PostHog is one of the most impressive products in analytics: ten-plus tools on one platform, a free tier that covers a million events a month, and genuinely great session replay, feature flags, and experiments. Metrivo is not a PostHog alternative in the platform sense — it's the opposite shape. PostHog gives product engineers a toolbox and expects them to assemble answers. Metrivo gives a SaaS founder one assembled answer: which traffic source, funnel step, or AI referral is producing or leaking payment revenue, and what to fix first. This page compares them honestly, including the things PostHog simply does better.

What PostHog genuinely does better
Session replay, flags, and experiments.Metrivo doesn't do any of these, and PostHog does all three well — 5,000 web replays and a million feature-flag requests per month are free. If you need to watch users struggle or roll out features behind flags, this isn't a contest.
Depth for product teams. Flexible funnels with cohorts and breakdowns, SQL access, a data warehouse, error tracking, surveys, LLM observability for your own AI features, and an in-app AI agent. If your team will invest in a platform, PostHog repays it.
Free-tier scale.A million events a month free covers most early-stage products entirely. Metrivo's plans cap at 10k/100k/1M events for $9/$14/$19 — we compete on the packaged answer, not on raw volume, and it would be dishonest to claim otherwise.
Where the founder workflow breaks down
Revenue attribution is now explicitly DIY.PostHog ran a Revenue analytics dashboard in beta — Stripe only, with other processors listed as "coming soon" — and has announced its removal on or after June 30, 2026. The replacement strategy is exposing revenue properties for you to query through insights, SQL, or their AI agent. Capable teams can absolutely build a revenue-per-source view that way. But it is a build, and it still only ingests Stripe. Metrivo ships that view assembled, across Stripe, Razorpay, Dodo Payments, and a Manual Payment API, with confirmed/inferred/unknown confidence labels on every attribution.
AI traffic requires hand-built rules.PostHog's channel types cover search, social, paid, email — but there's no AI channel. To even segment ChatGPT or Perplexity traffic you write custom channel rules per referring domain, and connecting that to revenue means warehouse joins on top. Metrivo detects 11 named AI sources automatically, shows the evidence behind each label, and ties the sessions to payments.
Nobody ranks the leaks for you.PostHog will show you any funnel you define. It won't tell you which drop-off is costing the most revenue, draft the fix, or send a daily founder brief — that synthesis is your job. That synthesis is Metrivo's entire product: the Revenue Leak Detector, Fix Draft Generator, Metrivo Score, and daily brief exist so the founder seat gets an answer, not an assignment.
A common stack: both
Product-led teams often run PostHog for in-product behavior, replay, and flags, with Metrivo as the founder's revenue layer on top. The trackers don't conflict. Read more on revenue attribution and AI-search attribution.
